The constant investments made by the Administration of the Ports of Paranaguá and Antonina (APPA) in dredging, demolition of submerged slabs and rocks and other works of accessibility to the port of Paranaguá and other ports and terminals that make up the port and waterway infrastructure of Paraná, will be presented by the director of engineering and maintenance of the state public company Portos do Paraná, Victor Kengo. The specialist's lecture is scheduled for the second day of the event Portos & Costas Brasil – 2023, in the thematic session Dragagem. The event is in its second edition and will take place on the 22nd and 23rd of May, at the Hotel Mercure, in Balneário Camboriú. It is carried out by MTCN Sustainable Solutions in Dredging, Ports and Coasts.

Victor Kengo has been working in the engineering sector of the ports of Paraná since 2016 and has also worked for multinational companies such as Renault and Electrolux. At Portos & Costas Brasil, Victor will present the dredging and demolition works carried out by Portos do Paraná between 2019 and 2023, challenges and future scenario. "These are fundamental works for the safety of navigation and for Brazilian ports to be able to receive larger ships with a greater volume of cargo", says the engineer.

Victor explains that the ports of Paraná are located in a bay with a large accumulation of sediments, which requires permanent dredging maintenance contracts from the port authority. "As well as the ports of Paraná, other Brazilian ports are in similar situations and need constant investments in dredging and other works that guarantee safe access for the current fleet of ships, as well as for the future fleet, with ships getting bigger every day. brings even more relevance to the presentation of the expertise of these ports at the event", says the curator of Portos & Costas Brasil – 2023, Mauricio Torronteguy.

Victor Kengo highlights the importance of exchanging information and experiences in the sector. "These themes have a direct impact on port activity and debating them always brings new perspectives", he points out. The public company Portos do Paraná is responsible for managing the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina. Together, these ports accounted for the third position in the Brazilian export ranking last year, with shipments of 34 million tons of goods abroad, equivalent to US$ 26 billion.
