09/15/2020 | 11h20

As of yesterday (9/14), the draft of the Manual of Good Regulatory Practices, prepared as part of the activities of the Monitoring Committee for the Opening of Natural Gas (CMGN), is under public consultation for 45 days.

The consultation aims to receive contributions, from market agents and other interested parties, for the preparation of the final text of the Manual, which constitutes the set of good regulatory practices for the natural gas industry. The publication aims to contribute to the harmonization of the regulatory rules of the gas industry in Brazil, based on the pillar "Harmonization of State and Federal Regulations", foreseen in the Novo Mercado de Gás program, launched by the Federal Government on July 23, 2019 .

The draft Manual and guidelines on how to participate in the consultation are published at http://www.anp.gov.br/consultas-audiencias-publicas/concluidas/5944-consulta-publica-n-12-2020

What is the New Gas Market

The New Gas Market is the Federal Government's program that aims to create an open, dynamic and competitive natural gas market, promoting conditions to reduce its price and thereby contribute to the country's economic development.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and developed jointly with the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of Economy, the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the Energy Research Company (EPE) and the Council Administrative Defense of Economic Defense (Cade), the Program covers measures for all links in the natural gas value chain, from the flow of production to distribution, respecting the competence of the States for the regulation of local piped gas services. The measures are aimed at more efficient use of existing infrastructure, attracting new investments and promoting competition in the natural gas market.
