In 2019, economic activity grew 0.89%, it is the third year in a row that the IBC-Br registers expansion

The Brazilian economy grew 0.89% in 2019. This is what the Central Bank's Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br) shows, released today (14).

 

In the last quarter of the year, compared to the previous period, growth was 0.46%, according to seasonally adjusted data (adjusted for the period). The fourth quarter compared to the same period in 2018 grew by 1.36%.

 

In December, compared to November 2019, there was a fall of 0.27% (seasonally adjusted). In comparison with the last month of last year and December 2018, economic activity grew by 1.28%.

 

The IBC-Br incorporates information on the level of activity of the three sectors of the economy: industry, trade and services and agriculture, in addition to the volume of taxes.
